Embodied: A Circle for Women & Femmes with Disa Almeida

Embodied: A Circle for Women & Femmes

We gather as women and femmes to share, to support and to remember.

Embodied is a space to slow down and listen more closely to what we feel, what we carry, what we need and what we long for.

Many of us have learned to prioritize the needs of others, keep going regardless of what we are carrying, make ourselves smaller or set aside our own feelings and needs. Within the circle, we explore how gendered expectations, relationships, culture, inherited patterns and social conditions shape the ways we respond, relate and move through our lives, without assuming that our experiences are the same.

Rooted in somatics, each gathering includes centering, body awareness, gentle movement, guided reflection, creative expression and intentional conversation. These practices invite us to listen to the wisdom within and among us, uncover deeper longings and explore how our choices and actions might come into closer alignment with what matters most.

This is not a space for fixing one another. It is a space to witness and be witnessed, connect with greater intention and bring more of ourselves into how we live and relate.

Care, consent, choice, privacy and respect for difference are central to the circle. You are welcome to participate at your own pace, with no pressure to speak, move in a particular way or share more than you choose.

No previous experience with somatics or group circles is required. This biweekly, two hour open circle welcomes 6 to 10 participants. Attend once or return regularly; each gathering stands on its own.

Disa Almeida, BSW, MSW

Disa Almeida is the creator and facilitator of Embodied: A Circle for Women and Femmes. Based on somatic practices designed to help uncover deep longings and align actions towards what you care about.  Disa is completing the Strozzi Institute Somatic Coach Certification Program and working toward an International Coaching Federation credential. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Social Work and brings experience in community practice, crisis response, programs supporting children and families, and women’s group facilitation.

Disa’s approach is grounded in care, consent, choice, curiosity, and respect for difference. As a Latina born and raised in Canada, she understands women’s lives in context—shaped by our relationships, cultures, histories, identities, and social conditions. Through her circles, she invites women and femmes to slow down, listen to themselves and one another, and explore what they feel, carry, need, and long for.

Somatics is part of Disa’s daily life as well as her professional practice. She is committed to creating spaces where people can participate at their own pace, connect with greater intention, and bring more of themselves into how they live and relate.
